Blog: General

While perusing The Beauty Department I came across this hair tutorial for beautiful vintage waves. Below is the step-by-step instruction guide.

Step 1:

Find a good deep side part. Once you do, clip the top half of the heavier side up as seen in image #1.

Step 2:

Start with curling the section right above your ear. Use either a 1" wand or barrel curling iron.

Step 3:

For steps 3, 4 and 5, you want to do the exact same thing for every piece, right next to one another. Wrap curl hair forward towards your face. Make sure you are creating a perfect curl pattern.

Step: 4:

Do the next piece.

Step 5:

And the next one.

Step 6:

Now switch sides and repeat. Do one curl right after the other in the same pattern. You want it to look like Shirley Temple curls.

Step 7:

Once the curls are in place, spray with a firm holding hairspray. Allow hairspray to set for 5 minutes in a cool, dry room.

Step 8:

Once hair has cooled, take a fine comb and start combing through the curls.

Step 9:

Keep combing.

Step 10:

If you've curled all your sections that exact same way right next to each other, you'll start to see a perfect pattern form as you're combing.

Step 11:

Take your 1" barrel curling iron and curl any straight stray ends under.

Step 12:

Give hair one last spritz of hairspray.
